BODY LISTENING
What happens in a session?
We usually begin by checking in and hearing what brings you to the session, or what feels present for you that day. From there, we might take some time to arrive together - noticing the body, the breath, the room and what it is like to be here with another person.
There isn't a set structure that every session follows. We may spend much of our time talking, or attention might move towards a sensation in the body, a change in your breath, an image, a feeling or an impulse to move. You may want to stand up, lie down, make a sound, push against something, curl up, take up more space - or do very little at all. We follow what has our attention rather than deciding beforehand where we need to go.
Sometimes I may offer an experiment or practice and we notice together what happens. Touch can also be part of the work where it feels appropriate and wanted, but it is never assumed and is always explored through consent.
You don't need to arrive knowing what you want to work on. Sometimes there is something very clear, and sometimes we begin with “I don't know.” Both are welcome places to start.
RELATIONAL BODY LISTENING
This is a place to listen together to the body and to what is happening in the here and now. Sensations, breath, thoughts, images, impulses and desires can all become part of the process.
Unlike traditional talking therapy, we aren't limited to sitting opposite one another and talking about your experience. You might feel to move around the room, follow an impulse, explore something through the breath or body, or simply notice what happens as we sit together. There may be touch or physical contact, always through conversation and consent.
I don't approach this work with the assumption that I know what is right for you. I'm interested in what we can discover together when we slow down enough to listen.
Not everything we experience can be understood through words. Some of our ways of responding to the world were formed before we had language for them, and can show themselves through the body in ways we don't always consciously understand.
I am not here to sit and analyse you. I am interested in what it is like to be you, and how our relationship can offer a place to gently listen to that. As well as is as the wild, raw or painful parts of you that may want to be seen.

Book in curiosity call via my website where we can notice how it feels to sit in a room together, what your experience and life is like at the moment and what beings you here. This would be in person preferably but can make arrangements for online if necessary.
